Abstract:
We measure the spreading of one of the most widely used financial models, the Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM), among the financial community. Using the Bass (1969) diffusion model, we show that it took almost thirty years to the CAPM to reach its apogee in the managerial press, while it spread more quickly in the academic field. This result suggests that time is an important factor for research in management to be valued outside the academic world.
