Abstract: The aim of our paper is to study staff development in belgian SMEs. We want to analyse if the way entrepreneur views HRM can affect staff development policy. Thanks to quantitative data from 159 belgian entrepreneurs, we distinguish 3 types of entrepreneurs that do not share the same view about their involvement in human resource management. The way these entrepreneurs view human resource management influence staff development practices they implement in their company.
