Abstract: The evolution of managerial practices has become an important issue for many companies. However, management is a complex concept, at the crossroads of several disciplines. In this article, after some definitional elements, we discuss the social cognition approach and the core social motives to study managerial practices. This model allows us to consider the manager as a social being whose behavior is explained by the interaction of situational, cognitive, motivational and personal variables.
