Abstract: This work aims to solve the question about which is the social function of the Basque cooperatives. To this effect, firstly, it will be done a draft of the Basque Country Co-operatives' History, something that is neither built nor pacific on the forum. With this frame, there will be exposed some interviews with different agents of the Basque cooperatives, workers-partners of Mondragon, of Olatukoop and, also, the institutions. All this will be con-trast with the most recent papers of the Academy. The conclusions of this work focus on the community benefited from this social function and what kind of identity the cooperatives gen-erate on the territory.
