Abstract: Ignacy Sachs' vision regarding development has been unfolded for 50 years now. With its own founding originality, such a vision incorporates the environment as a core issue. Ecodevelopment is first and foremost tantamount to development. On the basis of the criteria established, Sachs is a member of heterodox institutionalisms for development. By contrast, the originality of his proposals ranks him rather on the crossing of different heterodox branches than a unique approach. The central position of local actors, the diversity of local solutions, the place given to iterative planning and the overlapping of governance scales embody important features of such an originality.
