Why do professionals in the cultural sector develop slasher career paths ?

Abstract:
In the « all entrepreneurs » age, the figure of the slasher is highlighted everywhere as the latest trend in workplace organization. Is it an epiphenomenon, a fashion, or a profound social and professional shift in our expectations towards work, employment and time? This article deals with the link between pluriactivity and slashing, as well as the reasons why cultural slashers engage in a career path of this kind. To analyse this subject, we carried out inductive and qualitative research with about thirty individuals in 2018, each with multiple jobs, one at least being in the cultural sector. In the same way as cultural workers are portrayed as a role model for new workers, will slashers in culture roles herald a new labor vision? What are these individuals motivated by when they think that work is more like the Netflix homepage than a Racine play?
