Abstract:
This prospective study aims to explore three nature-inspired (or nature-claimed) schools of thought that could shape the future of human resource management (HRM). This study is based on the hypothesis that employees in major metropolitan areas will increasingly seek to work in natural environments, that nature itself can provide meaning to their work, and that its imitation can help transform organizations. The first approach, Green Human Resource Management (GHRM), is currently the most advanced. The other two, biomimicry and biophilia, are less known in the fields of management and HRM. After describing each concept, we analyzed their interconnections. This exploratory study aims to link the well-established field of GHRM with less-explored approaches to highlight their combined potential and limitations. The theoretical foundations of this convergence will be outlined and illustrated using examples. Finally, we discuss the limitations of this exploratory study and suggest directions for future research.
