Abstract: What does it mean for a prison to be a part of society? A prison oriented toward reintegration? Using the example of Les Beaux Mets, a reintegration-oriented restaurant located inside Baumettes Prison in Marseille, we show that a prison becomes part of society when it is embedded within a broader territorial project. This requires a paradigm shift: thinking of the prison as part of an ecosystem of actors, supported by participatory governance and an urban narrative capable of reshaping public perceptions.
