Abstract: The skills mismatches are a factor holding back the external profitability of the education system. Using two analytical approaches based on the mismatch index and the worker self-assessment method, the skills-employment mismatch appears to be high, with a clear increase in all districts of Côte d'Ivoire between 2012 and 2016. Analysis of graduates' profiles shows that experience of the labour market increases the risk of mismatch more than the probability of perfect match. Also, the use of social capital to access a job exposes individuals to the risk of mismatch. Gender analysis also shows that women's access to training in economics, law and technical and vocational courses leads to a better match between areas of training, qualifications and employment. This article reveals a disparity in the way young people's skills are valued, both at district level and on the labour market as a whole.
