Abstract:
This article focuses on the methodological innovations introduced by the economist and reformer Émile Cheysson (1836-1910). By studying the justifications and reasons underlying these news means of knowledge, we can focus on their intertwining with a particular form of intervention in the social world that gives prominence to the principles of patronage and provides social authorities with tools for observing and resolving social problems.
