Abstract: This chapter proposes moving away from a fixed vision of the territory and to show the complexity of the "making" of the territory by social and solidarity economy (SSE) actors. It explores via the case of Lyon's outreach non-profit organizations (NPOs) how solidarity actors concretely organize themselves with and within their territory. In order to move away from a prescriptive, institutional vision of territory and understand its co-production by SSE actors, we draw on the thinking of Henri Lefebvre. The chapter presents the ethnographic methodology of data collection to study the conception and production of territory by solidarity NPOs. It is worth remembering that we have asked ourselves many ethical questions about our relationship with the homeless and how to pursue research that is fair and respectful towards vulnerable people.
