Abstract:
The consumption of competitive multiplayer video games exposes players to displays of toxicity. These displays also manifest in the context of video game streaming. Through stream observations and player interviews, we explore what place toxicity occupies in the practice of streaming League of Legends and how it contributes to the creation of audiences around tacit feeling and framing rules about toxicity and broadly about styles of play.
