Abstract:
This ongoing work aims to study the issues related to the preservation of memory and the development of tourism at memorial sites. It seeks to identify the controversies that arise between the various stakeholders in relation to these sites and to understand how to take them into account in the development and management of tourism policy. Using the Memorial to the Abolition of Slavery in Nantes as a case study, the conceptual framework of controversies and Actor-Network Theory (ANT), data collection and intra- and inter-group analysis are currently being deployed. This action research will help to support the promotion of memorial sites by involving and considering the views of each of the actors involved.
