Abstract: By analyzing works written by Du Pont de Nemours, Le Mercier de la Rivière, Victor Riquetti de Mirabeau and François Ques-nay, and in view of the unity of political the-ory shaped and developed by the physioc-racy, this paper examines how the economic analysis of this doctrine only finds its condi-tion of possibility based on a previous polit-ical ground, the natural law. Thus, we aim to emphasize the importance of this "philo-sophical comeback" to the understanding of concepts such as net product or even the em-phasis given to agriculture. This approach will allow us to better assess how the study of wealth does not emancipate itself from a social and political theory that ultimately flourishes in the traditional field of natural law.
