Abstract: Blockchain is often portrayed as a technology capable of profoundly transforming supply chains, particularly by enabling distributed governance and reducing inter-organizational transaction costs. However, despite growing academic and managerial interest, its collective adoption remains limited and largely incremental. This article provides an integrative literature review aimed at analysing the mechanisms underlying the relative non-adoption of blockchain in supply chains. The findings show that blockchain is predominantly implemented through centralized or permissioned architectures designed to preserve existing governance structures. Rather than reflecting a technological failure, these choices stem from organizational and institutional logics related to uncertainty management, power relations, and legal accountability. Non-adoption thus emerges as a mode of innovation management through which a potentially disruptive technology is domesticated and integrated into established organizational arrangements.
