Abstract: In some contexts, the actual behavior of individuals can appear as anomalies for a theory of the rational agent. The behavioral theory aims to explain these anomalies, especially those relating to social preferences. The purpose of this paper is to show how experimental economics has provided an accurate measure and further characterization of these preferences. Based on a very selective review of experiences, we show how it was established a fruitful dialogue between the analysis of behavior in laboratory and theory about this question.
