Bjørn Lomborg ou Tintin au pays de l'écologie ?

Olivier Godard

Working Papers from HAL

Abstract: Bjørn Lomborg has been sold as a Tintin discovering and contesting the Ecologyland. Through his critical examination of existing ecologist statements, does his bestseller contribute to an appropriate dissemination of scientific knowledge and good information of public debates about the real stakes of global environmental issues? Under the mask of juvenile ingenuousness and statistical objectivity, the reader discovers a truncated trial. Making use of several rhetorical tricks, Lomborg tries to present his own views and choices about the future as a direct expression of pure facts. The way he argues about climate change is particularly ill-built and incapable to provide light for the debate between scientists, citizens and political leaders.
