Abstract: This final report presents the results of the work carried out as part of the study of the socio-economic effects of the adoption of agroecological innovations in the areas covered by the ProSol project in the Boeny region of Madagascar. The study is based on a three-phase iterative approach: (i) a qualitative assessment; (ii) a quantitative assessment; and (iii) a prospective approach. This final report reviews the three phases, but focuses on the results of the agro-economic surveys, which provide a detailed and precise diagnosis of the situation of farms in this area and their performance in relation to the use of agroecological practices. The quantitative study was carried out in four communes of the Boeny region on a sample of 400 rural households/farms selected at random. The questionnaires were designed following the qualitative assessment carried out between April and May 2023 (38 semi-structured interviews and 4 focus groups), and the surveys were carried out between July and August 2023. The aim is not only to determine the level of use of the various agroecological techniques, but also to understand the resources and overall activities and income of the farms (including non-agricultural income), and thus to reposition the innovations adopted in their relationship with other characteristics of these farms, and in particular their livelihoods. These surveys complement the qualitative approach and, in addition to results on the conditions of adoption of agroecological innovations and the measurement of their effects, make it possible to construct a specific typology of AEs. The results of these surveys fed into discussions and group work for the territorial foresight workshop in Majunga on February 6 and 7, 2024. The main results presented in the report are structured around the following five sections: - Characteristics and typology of the AEs studied - Dissemination and adoption of agroecological practices - Technical-economic performance of AEs - Assessment of the effects of PAE adoption at plot, EAF and territorial level - Territorial foresight and changes in PAE scale.
