Abstract: Introduction "Rediscovering a sense of shared future" The world is currently facing a number of major crises: climate change, loss of biodiversity, an increase in armed conflicts, the world order and the universal values agreed in the aftermath of the Second World War are more and more disputed, as well as the legitimacy of the UN. Within this turbulent world, where the "international community" seems in many ways to be disintegrating, it is vital to strengthen solidarity and international cooperation in order to reduce inequalities, meet global challenges and restore confidence in our ability to design a common future. In the face of the climate crisis and the collapse of biodiversity, which threaten the future of humanity and, beyond that, the very existence of living organisms, cooperation is no longer an option, it is an imperative.
