Abstract:
This case study explores the appropriation of project management in a Dutch-French research cooperation project. By means of an ethnographic thick description the research triangulates the logic of project management and two professional logics of Dutch and French partners. The study put into light a consistency between project management and Dutch consensus at both operational and symbolic level. It reveals the difficulties to make the project part of French "logique de métier". The paper further underlines how the practice of science is rooted in national culture and further discusses the cultural embeddedness of social responsibility of researchers.
