Abstract:
Health services planners have not for the most part used economic approaches. The production of the the 'Goals and Targets' documents by the NSW Department of Health and the Commonwealth Department of Health, Housing and Community Services respectively has further stimulated our interest in the role of economic analysis in the planning of health services. This led to a one-day workshop on the Economics of Health Service Planning convened by CHERE and co-ordinated by Professor Mooney. The workshop was attended by over forty planners representing each of the NSW Health Areas and Regions. This discussion paper summarises the material presented at that workshop
