Abstract:
Enhancement of the quality of vocational education and training (VET) in Russia is related to development of the practice-oriented forms of education, which are believed to increase the readiness of VET graduates to school-to-work transition. The most notable innovations in this field over the past decade are the introduction of demonstration exams and dual education. As part of the Monitoring of education markets and organizations (MEMO) 2020, VET teachers, trainers, students, and graduates were asked questions about them (3 different sociological surveys). This paper presents an analysis of the obtained results. Students, graduates, and teaching staff of VET schools highly appreciate dual education and the demonstration exam. Involvement of students in practice-oriented education has statistically significant association with their satisfaction with acquired VET program. At the same time, several problems hinder the implementation of innovations. In particular, preparation for the demonstration exam is hampered by a lack of equipment, consumables and financial resources for organization of the exam. As for dual education, the VET teachers, trainers and students tend to be still unaware of its peculiarities and methodological specificity.
