Abstract:
Career plans of students, which are closely related to their perception of the labour market and work experience, define the success of this transition. The current issue analyses students’ career prospects based on data collected from the survey of HEI students which was carried out as a part of the Monitoring of education markets and organizations (MEMO HSE). The results show that combining study and work remains a widespread pattern among HEI students and facilitates the transition into labour market upon graduation. Financial difficulties and willingness to gain work experience are the principal reasons to combine study and work. Students, especially those enrolled in Master’s degree, have an adequate idea of the modern labour market and skills needed for employment. Educational level, field of study and university characteristics are all associated with different career patterns of students.
