Abstract: In this paper, we analyze the role of the family in the child's education. The study is based on the online survey of parents of schoolchildren in grades 1–11. The survey was held as a part of the “Monitoring the Economics of Education” project in 2020. The study examined how parents construct the educational space of children, choose a school and additional educational activities, how they participate in the child's learning at school and at home. Parents' opinions about the school, the child's education, his\her interaction with teachers and peers are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to aspects of inequality in education, differences in available opportunities and resources, and differences in the behavioral strategies of social groups.
