Abstract:
Homeschooling has been spreading actively both in Russia and other countries. This newsletter reports on the results of the qualitative study conducted with families that chose homeschooling for their children. The data analyses have revealed parental reasons for homeschooling, the need to promote children’s wellbeing, social processes motivating parents to make this choice, and resources families use. In addition, the results shed light on whether homeschooling bears risks for children’s socialization and how homeschooled children socialize. This newsletter might be informative for practitioners and scholars in the field of education, specifically, interested in traditional and home schooling.
