Dispersion properties of ergodic translations

Abstract:

We consider irrational rotations of the circle T x = x + α ( mod ⁡ 1) and study the asymptotic behavior of sums of the type S n = ∑ k = 0 n − 1 π k with π k = ± 1 , the sign beingdetermined by the location of T k x with respect to a binarypartition.
