International Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2008, vol. 2008, 1-5

Abstract:

We obtain new characterizations of open maps in terms of closures, of closed maps in terms of interiors, and of continuous maps in terms of interiors. Further open (closed) onto maps 𠑓 ∶ 𠑋 → 𠑌 are described in terms of images under 𠑓 of certain closed (open) sets in 𠑋 . Continuity of (onto) maps is also characterized in terms of saturated sets.
