Institutinal Changes and Strike Activity in OECD-Countries: a Reply to Elke Jahn

Abstract: In this comment, we address the issue raised by Elke Jahn that institutional factors have been important determinants of strike activity. Using various institutional indicators across the OECD countries, our estimates show that cross-country variations in strikes are only marginally affected by institutional factors. Given the available data, the results suggest that institutions are not important for strikes in the OECD countries.
