Abstract: "The IAB Establishment Panel is an annual survey of establishments that has been in existence for over 30 years. It is designed as a longitudinal study so that the same establishments are surveyed wherever possible. In a longitudinal survey, the stability of the questionnaire is of great importance. Nevertheless, it appears necessary to review the questionnaire from time to time in order to be able to reflect new and current topics in the questionnaire without increasing the survey burden for the companies surveyed. This report aims to critically examine the use of the questionnaire. For this purpose, it is necessary to know how frequently the variables of the IAB Establishment Panel are used in publications for politics, administration and science. Therefore, 192 publications listed in the “Themendossier IAB Establishment Panel” for the period January 2020 to July 2023 were used as a basis and the variables used in them were recorded and counted according to their frequency. In addition to a number of variables that were used very frequently, there are variables that are used very rarely or never. Variables that were used less than eleven times in the publications were first checked for content. In a further step, it was decided which of these variables should be removed from the questionnaire program. In addition, the results show that questions should be revised and updated."
