Revista Global de Negocios, 2015, vol. 3, issue 4, 69-81

Abstract: The generation of organizational fit is of great importance for businesses because their survival depends upon it. In this paper, an exploration of this theory was made, in conjunction with Contingency Theory and the Configuration School. We make a comparison of several definitions which conceptualize their different meanings through various authors on a timeline conceptual analysis, as well its vision from different disciplinary approaches for a better understanding of its conceptualization. This approach gives an enriching perspective to this concept. Its analysis presents very interesting results in relation to generation of organizational fit in businesses. Comparisons were also made of differences founded in this study from the extant literature. This analysis of the concept of organizational fit and its convergence with Contingency Theory and Configuration School will allow consideration of the context of its administrative conceptualization and can provide a better understanding of environment-structure relations within organizations and the correct fit to their surroundings.
