Abstract:
Small and medium companies (SMEs) in the construction industry are of vital importance to the social and economic development of a country. They provide the population dwelling and infrastructure. The current problem in this industry is a lack of customers. The implementation of strategic alliances is a solution to solve the problems this industry faces. The proposed objectives are to study strategic alliances applied to SMEs in the construction industry. The methodology consists of researching information on the subject, as well as determining a convenience sample of 5 SMEs and then applying 5 surveys. The database structure was provided by the Mexican Camera of Industry and Construction of Monclova Coahuila. Descriptive analyses were performed. The outcomes are analyzed in two dimensions. The type of strategic alliances used in the construction sector of dwelling and the benefits regarding the implementation of strategic alliances in the sector are analyzed. Some 80% of the companies made at least once strategic alliance. The types of these alliances are: production alliance, market alliance, innovation alliance and administration alliance and the related benefits are cooperation for production, innovation, administration and market
