Obesity in Older Adults Indonesia: The Role of Healthy Behaviour Factors and Metabolic Syndrome

Abstract: Obesity in older adults has been a health problem in both developed and developing countries. This study aimed to determine the problem of obesity in the older adults group according to behavioral factors and metabolic syndrome. This study used a cross-sectional design. The number of samples analyzed was 5120 people, all of which were older adults aged 60 years and over. The prevalence of obesity in older adults was 17.6 percent. The results of the advanced analysis also showed a correlation between the variables gender, age, region, education, smoking behavior, and levels of LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL cholesterol, hypertension, and diabetes mellitus with the incidence of obesity in the older adults.
