Abstract: Manufacturing execution system (MES) is a production management technology and real-time information system which lies between the enterprise upper layer (ERP) and the bottom layer (PLC/DCS) and faces to workshop layer. MES's concept, its functional model and its important status in the manufacture industry are introduced in this article. Based on the production practice in Kunshan Banknote Paper Mill, an evaluation model of EMS is set up. The model also has a certain reference value to the construction of management information system (MIS) for the relative industries.
