Abstract: En este trabajo se analizan la eficiencia nacional y regional y la productividad total de los factores de los hoteles españoles. La metodología frontera no paramétrica DEA se ha empleado para evaluar los niveles de eficiencia con los que operan las empresas hoteleras y los índices de Malmquist para estimar el cambio productivo acaecido en el periodo 2001-2008. Los principales resultados permiten determinar las comunidades autónomas que presentan un comportamiento más eficiente, que resultan más competitivas y los índices de variación de su productividad en el periodo, así como sus principales determinantes: los cambios en la eficiencia y el cambio técnico. / This paper analyzes national and regional efficiency and total factor productivity of Spanish hotels. The nonparametric frontier DEA methodology has been used to assess the levels of efficiency of the hotel firms and Malmquist indices to estimate the productive change in the period 2001-2008. The results show the region most efficient and therefore more competitive. The results also show the rates of change in productivity in the period and its main determinants: efficiency change and technical change.
