Abstract:
Business analytics leads to reliable and quicker decision making in organisations. However, few organisations can derive significant strategic value from the adoption of business analytics. Business analytics adoption is a complex organisational activity that is influenced by many factors. Therefore, the research on business analytics is of significant relevance to the industry and academic work. Many researchers have studied the adoption of business analytics in organisations using different theoretical perspectives. An analysis of the theoretical models can help in understanding the key themes for business analytics adoption and assist in future research towards extension or integration of theoretical models. Towards this end, scrutiny of research papers for business analytics adoption grounded on the theoretical perspectives of the resource-based view (RBV), dynamic capabilities, and technological, organisational and environmental (TOE) framework is attempted. The key themes emerging from these theoretical perspectives and the significant factors influencing analytics adoption are discussed in this conceptual paper.
