Cybersecurity insights in software development organisations: an empirical study in India

Abstract: Cybersecurity risks are socio-technical. Not only technical vulnerabilities impact cybersecurity risks, but human factors are also significant. The present study empirically investigates the relationship between cybersecurity behaviours, internet addiction, technical knowledge, and impulsivity. A total of 530 respondents from Indian software development organisations finished the survey questionnaire and 471 responses were used in the data analysis. The data was collected for four months and analysed utilising statistical measures. The findings of the study reveal that internet addiction, abbreviated impulsivity, and technical knowledge significantly impact cybersecurity behaviour. The outcomes present an additional step in conceptualising the user-specific variances that may manage robust cybersecurity practices, emphasising the requirement to centre-right on effective training and awareness mechanisms.
