Abstract:
This study examines the literature related to big data analytics integration into performance management systems. The systematic literature review used the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) approach to select relevant studies for review. Fifty-three articles relevant to big data analytics and PMS were reviewed and analysed. The main publication trends regarding big data analytics and PMS literature, the key areas examined, and the main research opportunities were highlighted. The literature review identifies three major factors that influence the success of big data analytics integration into PMS: the organisation's data management capability to store, retrieve, and present collected data, the qualified human resource involved, and the decision-making process that may influence big data analytic integration into PMS.
