Economic analysis of public policy of innovation in Jordan

Abstract: The objective of this study is to analyse the national innovation system and policy in Jordan. This includes the legal regulatory framework; the higher education system; the R%D institutions; intellectual rights protection; and innovation trend in Jordan. This study utilised the descriptive method of research, secondary data collected from documents, literatures, and statistical data published by Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ministry of Industry and Trade during 2000-2014. Jordan, with its small and limited resources, has a large human capital represented in the high numbers of the PhD and MSc degree holder relative to its small population and national income. In addition to the legislations in Jordan, facilities registration and protection of innovations and patents enable Jordan to have a very important role in innovation. However, the numbers of non-resident different types of innovations is greater than resident innovations.
