Abstract: Substantial economic and ecological effects for thermal power projects (TPPs), can be achieved by improvement of the carbon sorbents (CS) application process providing fine pre-treatment of feed water, return condensates and purification of sewage. CS with inside surface of 106 m²/kg are able to extract contaminants from liquid mediums to any desired degree of water purification both from insolubles and solubles. This paper presents the results of the practical application of ABM, ABD, and BKZ brands sorbents at power plants, as well as for purification of domestic sewage, removal of radioactive impurities, etc. CS technology, material balances, ecological indices and comparison of sorbents produced in Russia and abroad are given in the paper.

Keywords: carbon sorbents (CS); application of CS; water purification; condensate; sewage; desalination; radioactive impurity; CS production; CS economics. (search for similar items in EconPapers)
