Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to review the literature relating to the approaches and application of sustainable reverse logistics in various types of business. The paper uses content analysis method for literature review. The review limits the published literature including thesis, proceedings, and literature from search engines e.g., Google Scholar, Science Direct, Emerald Insight, etc. The publications were found in the areas of logistics management, operations management, and business logistics. 93 literatures were used as references and sorted based on the purposes which are related to the sustainable reverse logistics. There are a number of gaps in the reviewed literature. The gaps were in sustainability performance, key factor, roles of other parties, assessment method, complimentary factor, and development. Generally, the gap is related to implementation of global level and performance of three elements in sustainable reverse logistics. This study reviews a sample of recent and previous literatures in this field, which is an extraordinary topic in literature and that would be an exclusive overview. It provides an opportunity for the future research in comparing the study of sustainable reverse logistics.
