Abstract:
The outsourcing of manufacturing activities has been used as a vertical disintegration manner that aims to yield advantages like cost reduction and flexibility gains. A problem that arises in this subject is to evaluate the suppliers' performance. In this regard, this study applies modelling to evaluate the performance of contract manufacturing suppliers that produce promotional kits for a multinational company in the cosmetics industry in Brazil by some criteria. To that end, qualitative and quantitative research was conducted with semi-structured interviews in areas of the company that interface with three suppliers, analysing the results by the constructs found in the literature review, and by the software ELECTRE TRI ME. It could be concluded that suppliers had a low evaluation in criteria such as flexibility and that one supplier's performance is considerably lower when compared to the others. We could also identify integration issues between teams.
