Radioactive manufacturing projects and politics: scientist and politician normalised risk decision process

Abstract: Radiology product manufacturing draws a high level of public scrutiny as well as peer pressure on subject matter experts in the community of practice. There are numerous qualitative and quantitative variables. Experts often widely disagree on proprieties or neglect to discriminate between seemingly identical alternatives. The risks are high and many projects fail; thus, an improved approach is proposed and tested. In this study, a mixed-methods action research approach was used, involving brainstorming and quantitative analysis techniques. The analytical hierarchy process and a new multiple criteria normalisation techniques were used to build a decision-making model.
