International Journal of Manufacturing Technology and Management, 2017, vol. 31, issue 4, 300-313

Abstract: This paper presents a criterion for enclosed die forging with a double-action linktype hydraulic die set. The operating principle of the die set in enclosed die forging is introduced with emphasis on force transmission from the press and hydraulic system to the workpiece through links, die components, and punches. The force transmission mechanism is examined and the die set motion is divided into three different modes. The force equilibrium requirements are applied to the three force transmission modes to establish a criterion for enclosed die forging with a double-action link-type hydraulic die set as well as to reveal the relationship of the forming load and link force with die or punch forces and enclosing forces.

Keywords: enclosed die forging; double-action link-type hydraulic die set; criterion for enclosed die forging; forming load relationship. (search for similar items in EconPapers)
