Abstract:
The paper adopts a dynamic view to analyse the elements of a platform strategy and then presents a management framework to integrate the perspectives of positioning navigation, competencies push, and acquisitions support into the applications-platforms-competencies (APC) matrix. The integration method suggested here is the APC matrix that can let readers easily capture the market dynamics, platform dynamics, and competence dynamics simultaneously, and then quickly decide which action modes to choose in which settings. The paper defines approaches to market applications, platforms, and competencies, and presents implications of platform management from this framework.
