A new method for redundancy optimisation problem with fuzzy random lifetime

Javad Nematian

International Journal of Operational Research, 2011, vol. 12, issue 2, 121-141

Abstract: In this paper, a redundancy optimisation problem, in which element lifetimes are fuzzy random variables (FRVs), is formulated by using fuzzy stochastic programming model. Subsequently, a new method is developed to solve the model based on the concepts of mean value of FRVs, chance-constrained programming and binary integer programming. Furthermore, an illustrative numerical example is also solved to clarify the methods discussed in this paper and major types of system performance are investigated.
