Abstract:
The US economy remained on a moderate growth trajectory in 2015, sustained by existence of robust domestic demand, boosted by the continuing improvement in employment, the reduction in international oil prices and gains stock accounts in the capital markets (that have increased the welfare of the population and its purchasing power). The very accommodative monetary policy and favorable domestic conditions were added factors that supported growth. Domestic demand will remain strong in 2016 - 2017, the result of a favorable environment in the credit market, improving conditions on the labor market and boost the household spending as a result of lower energy prices and wage increases. The effect of these positive factors will be gradually mitigated by lower exports, as result from weak external markets and predictable appreciation of the US currency.
