Euroinfo, 2017, vol. 1, issue 9, 47-58
Abstract:
The EU Member States have their own "Europe 2020" target on the share of renewable energy in final energy consumption. The national targets take into account various aspects, namely: the different stages of development, the renewable energy potential and the economic performance of each Member State. The article compares the three support schemes for renewable energy sources namely: feed-in tariffs, feed-in premiums and the quota system or green certificate system. The main purpose of this research is to identify both the advantages and disadvantages of the three support schemes for renewable energy sources in order to formulate recommendations to stimulate the further development of the green energy.
