Euroinfo, 2018, vol. 2, issue 10, 15-22

Abstract: A number of peculiarities besets the investment relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation. On the one hand, the Russian capital invested in the Moldovan economy has negative values and its investment contribution to the Moldovan economy is based on debt instruments, and, on the other hand, the role of Moldovan foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Russian Federation's economy remains marginal. The article presents the evolution of the bilateral FDI flows between the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation, analyses the aspects of Russian investors' presence in the Moldovan energy sector and the distorting effects of their presence on the bilateral investment relations and identifies other sectors of investment interest of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Moldova.
