Abstract:
European Council focused at this recent summit (22 March 2018) on issues related to the completion of the single market by implementing the last cycle of the Strategy of Single Market, the Strategy of Digital Single Market, the Action Plan of capital markets union and the project of energy union. There have been addressed specific issues related to the international trade in the context of recent protectionism promoted by the Trump Administration. As usual at the March summit there have been approved priority areas of national policies related to European Semester that should be reflected in the future national reform stability or convergence programs. European Council referred to the European pillar of social rights which is a commitment and a common political responsibility of the EU and its Member States. In the present paper we aim to highlight a synthesis of the most relevant discussed priorities earlier mentioned and of some other discussed issues related to: the Paris Agreement, Digital Europe, the Western Balkans, the Attack in Salisbury, Turkey’s actions in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea and Aegean Sea.
