Euroinfo, 2018, vol. 2, issue 6, 23-32
Abstract:
This article aims to analyse the effects of migration on the labour market in the EU area. The research methodology is based on the quantitative analysis of the main indicators specific to the labour market, as well as on the qualitative analysis of the EU documents and policies in the field of migration and not the least on the SWOT analysis. The impact of immigration on wages and employment of existing workers may be negative only if the migrant’s skills are complementary or are the same as the qualification of domestic workers. Withal, the impact of immigration on wages and employment opportunities of workers varies with space (country or region) and time (economic boom, stagnation or crisis).
